I’m gonna have to say that SvBony has some good products out there. This eyepiece is definitely one of them. I like the markings telling you what mm you’re at. The twist action is smooth and firm. Not too stiff that you feel like you’re forcing it. The FOV is what you would expect from a zoom eyepiece. This thing is also built like a tank. I dropped it on the cement today, to my dismay. When I picked it up there were marks on it (see attached image) but then I placed it in my telescope and it still worked perfectly. I would recommend this item.

I’m new at astronomy and ordered this eyepiece instead of getting a x2 Barlow. I felt this would give me more flexibility with out changing eyepieces. A 25mm eyepiece came with the telescope. I purchased a Celestron 4se that has a 102mm Cassegrain telescope. It took a while to get out because of the cloudy days, but I finally made it out. It was a 1/4 moon that night and it was great. I used the lower power of the Svbony eyepiece to get the moon into my telescope focus and even thought it was the 21mm setting I was very happy looking at the moon surface. To zoom in I just need to turn the rubber ring on the eyepiece to adjust to another millimeter instead of changing eyepieces. I feel this was a great purchase.

The Clarity is superb! The zoom does not ratchet. It is a smooth turn of the eye piece. I was a little disappointed by this because i wanted it to "click." Having said this, I am happy it doesn't now because I now feel as though I have more control of the zoom. It's a solid, heavy item that is nice to hold in your hand. I would say the quality is superb as well. Hopefully, you'll be better informed knowing these things.

The zoom has the following good points: Low scatter, high contrast, sharp to the edge at all focal lengths at f7.5, extremely good flare control, fairly good eye relief (not quite enough for glasses wearers), and smooth zooming. What's not to like? Well... A fairly narrow field of view at 21mm, and not all that wide at 7mm. Still, this is wider than the sometimes cheaper, narrower angle, 7-21mm sold by some other dealers, and the wider field is better corrected. You can't see what magnification you are using in the dark without using a light. This is where zooms with click stops come in handy. Even with a light, comparisons with fixed eyepieces show that the focal lengths marked on the barrel are longer than what the eyepiece provides by a significant margin, at least in the middle marks. Hence, you are using significantly more magnification than you might believe. That said, I use this over the much more expensive Baader zoom. The optical quality of the Svbony is matched by the viewing comfort. Here is the obligatory, "I have Takahashi and Baader orthos, but I use this zoom for my planetary viewing." I paid $50. What I got was a high performance eyepiece that I can comfortably sit and look through for hours.

The package arrived and looked very nice. It's in a nice box, and is well packaged. Opening it I found the eyepiece, 2 caps, and a lens cleaning rag in its own clear plastic pouch. The EP looks nice and has a good solid feel to it. The mechanism works smoothly, and the EP sits flush with the focuser on my telescope (see picture). The only issue I had -- and this is a deal breaker -- it has a black fleck in the lens that is visible at low magnifications. It is not on the outside of the lens, it is actually in the lens; when you turn the EP, the black fleck turns with it, but it is not something that can be brushed off. This is disappointing, and I will be returning it. Somehow QC must have missed it. UPDATE: I contacted the seller, and after a few messages back and forth they agreed to send me a replacement. I think I was dealing with an Amazon rep. The EP arrived and is in perfect condition. So I am updating my rating to 5 stars for good customer service, and a good product. SVBony stands behind its product. That's good.

I ordered the Celestron zoom lens and was getting impatient waiting for it to ship so I ordered this one. The appearance and specs were identical to the Orion zoom lens. I don’t know if it’s a copy cat or a different branding of the exact same lens. Slightly better zoom than the Celestron, slightly better eye relief, and 60% of the price. Why not? It just arrived yesterday (early!) and I tried it right away. It looks fantastic. Much better actually than the stock 24mm lens that came with my Orion XT6. By that I mean that the clarity and contrast were much better. I could clearly see the banding on Jupiter, clearly see even the gap in Saturn’s rings. And some features of Saturn’s atmosphere. The zoom is smooth and gradual as you twist the eyepiece. There are no clicks as you pass through the marked zoom levels. But it’s a continuous, smooth zoom like you would expect from the zoom on a camera. It maintains focus throughout the zoom. I haven’t had the lens for long so I can’t speak to its durability, but I can tell you I cancelled the order for the Celestron lens. Very happy with this lens and I saved $25 and God knows how long in waiting, for a lens that lets me zoom in just a little more than the Celestron would have. Super happy.

Shipping was fast but I received a defective product, when I used it to view the moon, I saw 2 dark spots near the edge of the view. I tried to clean them and found out they were not dirts but damages inside. It was not a big problem on viewing planets like Jupiter and Saturn because I barely zoomed them to the edge but it really affected my viewing experience when viewing the moon. If there were no damaged spots on the lens, I would definitely give it a 5 star. It was well built, the view was clear. I am returning this defective one and hope to replace it with a good one. Will see how the return/replace goes. Update: I had no issues on returning this. The replacement is perfect, so I change my rating to 5 star. PS: other than this eyepiece, I also have a 3x lens and a set of 7 filters from Svbony, they are all as good as they advertise. These 3 accessories totally cost around $125 (taxes included) but they will upgrade your telescope to another level. If you really enjoy sky exploring and won’t put your telescope away in just a week or a month, I will suggest you to upgrade your telescope with these accessories, you won’t regret it!

Great product! Extremely sharp clarity

I am very pleased with the quality and versatility of such an eyepiece. I am new to astronomy and wanted something that would be better quality then the eyepieces that’s came with my travel scope. This certainly did the job, two thumbs up!

Very convenient and easy to use. Well built and has some good weight to it, all for a very reasonable price. It makes for a better experience not having to switch out lenses and possibly losing the image as you increase the magnification.
